Piano Beats — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Piano Beats ("the app", package / bundle id com.pianobeats.app) is published by DEVBOX ("we", https://devbox.tn). This policy explains what data the app handles.
Data the app itself stores
- Your settings (language, sound, theme, volume), recorded songs, Learn progress, Challenge scores and daily streak are stored only on your device (local app storage). They are never uploaded to our servers. We do not run any server for the app, and there is no account.
- Recordings: songs you record are saved on your device as note data (which key, when, how long), not as audio. A video or audio file is created only at the moment you choose to share a recording, from those notes, and is handed to your phone's share sheet.
- Microphone ("Listen & Play"): only when you tap the listen button, the app listens for a few seconds to a melody you sing, hum or whistle and finds its notes so you can play them on the piano. The sound is analysed in the phone's memory, on the device only, and discarded immediately; it is never recorded, never saved, never uploaded and never shared. Only the detected notes are kept, on your device. Microphone permission can be revoked at any time in your phone settings.
- Sharing: when you choose to share a recording (video, audio or song code) or a Challenge score card, the file or text is handed to your phone's share sheet and sent to the app you pick (WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok…). Nothing is shared without your action. That app's own privacy policy then applies.
- Song links: a song code (or a link such as
https://devbox.tn/piano?c=… / pianobeats://song?c=…) only contains note data. When you open one, the app decodes it on your device to import the song; no request is sent to us.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads (banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads) provided by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- the advertising ID (Android advertising ID / iOS IDFA) and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from the IP address,
- app interaction and diagnostic data (ad impressions, clicks, crashes of the ads SDK).
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) is shown at first launch; you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & ad choices. On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before the IDFA can be used; if you decline, ads are not personalised with it, and you can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone settings (Settings → Google → Ads).

Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Data retention and deletion
All app data lives on your device: uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it. Data collected by Google AdMob is governed by Google's policies.
